Jonny Woo is a unique performance artist who has been instrumental in bringing alternative drag and cabaret to mainstream audiences. Disciplined in theatre and dance, inspired by New York performers his work is arresting, provacative, upredictable and highly entertaining. Critically accalaimed and much in demand by club culture and corporations alike, Woo 's work if not his presence at events alone, transcends definitions of high and low art. If by that it can be said that Woo is at home in the gutter as amongst the stars, that would be partially true. More that Jonny brings a sparkle and integrity to everything he does but with a force which leaves audiences inspired, shocked and exhilarated.
Jonny has hosted LOVEBOX for 2 years now, curated and hosted the closing party for Deloitte Ignite at The Royal Opera House and opened for Peaches at The Royal Festival Hall. He is an integral part of The Downlow at Glastonbury where he presented for the BBC and his night GAY BINGO remains the stuff of legend having been resident at Shoreditch House, The ICA and Soho Theatre. He is artist in residence at Bistrotheque, with 4 shows transferring to Edinburgh and The Soho Theatre with more in the pipeline. He is a central part of the new cabaret scene starring with BOOM BOOM, Whoopie and countless corporate and fashion events.
Whether it's a take on the iconic Pearly Queen or a fantastical fairytale character: a fresh take on The Wicked Witch Of The West or a Scouse Pope. Woo's looks are polished, arresting and entertaining. He made waves as a 'bearded tranny' which inspired a tribe of devotees only to shave it off to grace the pages of fashion magazines. Jonny Woo is a chameleon. A master of transformation.
