For the best part of a decade Jonny has been writing, directing and performing in his own work. Begining in 2001 with his parnership with NYC performance artist Brandon Olson, the show Go-Go Real and continuing in the UK with shows emanating as a result from his residency at Bistrotheque. His shows have garnered critical acclaim and evergrowing audiences. Shamelessly 'pop' and for ever 'silly' whilst brave in their profundity and honesty. Jonny's repertoire of shows is demonstarative of his range as an artist and director

'THIS IS JONNY WOO' is the ultimate 'best of show' from a career spanning 10 years in performance art with highlights from early New York performances such as 'Messy Lady' , co-written with Brandon Olson, shown above, through re-workings of favourites from Faggot and Mr 'E' and brand new works reflective of where Woo's inspiration is coming today, premiering his new collaborations with performance artist Batty Lashes. Joined by Xavier on piano for the ubiquitous classic cabaret moment, with unpredictable twists, definitley Woos most celebratory show laced heavily with dark surrealism.
' The work is terrific. An excellent night from Jonny Woo. ' Ben Walters, Time Out
'The level of energy and controlled delivery catapult Mr Woo into another league beyond the alternative art circuit...electrifying' Martin Green, Beige
SHUT THE FUCK UP
Like Jools Holland in drag! Part yoof TV show, part cabaret, part live gig. This is Woo's new concept in going out and modern lite entertainment. Bringing the best in London's young musical talent and underground performance alongside riffs on TV shows past and present. Woo host and presents his own tracks (SHUT THE FUCK UP). Bands have included Monarchy, Lois and The Love, T3ETH and We Were Evergreen.
PUT A WIG ON
Jonny's first full solo show of spoken word, storytelling and song (PUT A WIG ON). Drug fuelled and surreal with ponderings on life, love and death. Premiering and develpoed at Bistrotheque going on to sell out at The Soho Theatre and enjoy critical acclaim on it's transference to The Edinburgh Festival at The Guilded Balloon
'Part drag cabaret, part beat poetry, part physical theatre, part soliloquy, Jonny Woo seems to be one of those rare examples of a genuine polymath, the artist who can bring beauty to everything he/she does ' ***** whatsonstage.com
'Woo exploits the self-concious facade of the drag queen to inhabit the roles of dramatic monologist, spoken-word poet, cabaret songstress, lip-synching transvestite and quick witted comedian. The result is a one woman show, loosely based on a brush with drug-induced death, in which emotional truth sits alongside enthralling entertainment.' ****
The List
'Funny sophisticated and memorably bittersweet'**** The Metro
'FAIRIES' with FERAL AKA MC KINKY
The follow up to Mr 'E', premiered at The Soho Theatre and marked a move into original musical composition, collaborating with Feral aka MC Kinky, 'FAIRIES', Hannah Holland and Jenny Fairfax who penned his club/cabaret classic 'FAGGOT'..Surreal with personal tales from his childhood, Woo introduced audiences to the melancholic Mr Snorts and the tartrazine fuelled, memorable Spam Ayres
Probably the most loved of Jonny's shows, having enjoyed over 100 performances. From an ever extended run at Bistrotheque to a sell out run at The Soho Theatre and recipient of joyous reviews on The Edinburgh Fringe. Night Of A Thousand Jay Astons is pure pop, pure fun in glorious 80's technicolour. of course accompanied by Bucks Fizz's greatest hits this is one incarnation of the pop sensation that exploits the controversy to it's advantage. Even Ms Aston herself attended a gala performance at the RVT to a standing ovation
Arthur Miller could never have conceived it. David Mamet wouldn't dream of it. But 'Night Of A Thousand Jay Astons' must be the first drama in theatrical history to assume the audience have a working knowledge of the history of Buck's Fizz.....Simply rips the skirts off the competition' ***** THE METRO
Don't do drugs! Do drag! Jonny's take on psychadelia. Channeling Jim Morrison with his own versions of The Doors classics. Accompanied by Natalie Monroe, Xavier, Mariano Robles and his new co-writer of acoustic perf/art sensation, Les Gooms, Batty Lashes. Peppered with spoken word and psychadelic ramblings. Far out man! A happening in progress in instalments at Bistrotheque with big plans for the new year.
LES GOOM is the new musical outfit between collaborators Jonny Woo and international artist Batty Lashes. Together they write wry songs about their partying travels and observations of the world around them, creating catchy subversive material that is part folk, part punk, a little pop and very often surreal and unashamedly nonsense. Having enjoyed residency at Bistrotheue, they have also played Basso in Berlin, The Soho Theatre and most recently played 'LIVE AT THE ADELPHI' in Liverpool as part of a Tranny Hotel.
